The Earl Soham Jubilee Wood 2012 is a community project that has charitable status.

Thanks to the enormous and generous support of the community we purchased, in time for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, a little over one acre of land on the site of the old village allotments opposite the Victoria pub. Our MP Dr Dan Poulter planted our first tree, a jubilee oak, as part of the village Jubilee celebrations. One of the objectives was to enable the creation of a much needed permanent public footpath to connect the Low Road end of Earl Soham with the Street, primary school and butchers. Our management team, headed up by Jed Bultitude, consists of volunteers who will help clear, plant and manage the Jubilee Wood for the benefit of the community. New volunteers will receive a warm welcome. We have an outline layout to be created together with a management plan for the coming years. We need to ensure that we have sufficient funds available for essential work and to cover public liability insurance cover and donations are always welcome. Our first volunteer working party will take place on the afternoon of Saturday the 29th of September. Subsequent working parties will take place to plant trees and hedging and to tackle various projects. We thank you for your support to this project and hope that you can help us either with funding for ongoing work or by turning up to help at a working party or simply to pop over and enjoy this community asset. We think that a pedestrian crossing is much needed in Earl Soham and would like to gauge the public support for such a crossing. One possible location that links with the Jubilee Wood is to have a crossing at the bridge by the pump house. Thank you

The Trustees are immensely grateful to a wonderful group of individuals and companies in Earl Soham who so generously came forward as benefactors to enable the purchase to take place. The challenge was to raise £25,000 for the purchase price plus all associated legal fees in a very short timescale. The village rose to the occasion and we would like to put on the record the names of our benefactors who enabled the purchase to take place.
