St. Mary’s Church, Earl Soham

Parochial Church Council

12th November 2020

Dear Parishioners and Visitors,

I regret to advise you that, due to the ongoing situation regarding the Covid-19 virus, there will be no services in St. Mary’s Church during the current lock-down.

The Church will remain open for private prayer and reflection.

The next scheduled service, beyond the current lock-down period, is the Holy Communion service to be held at 10 am on the 13th December 2020.

Please ensure that you and your families keep safe and well during this very difficult and trying period.

God Bless.

Rev Stephen Brian last service in St Marys

posted 16 Jul 2020, 07:08 by Earl Soham Web Admin

Just to remind you that Rev Stephen Brian will be retiring and leaving Earl Soham in the next few weeks.   His last service in St Marys will be this Sunday, 19th at 10 am, a service of Holy Communion.   His final service in the benefice will be on Sunday 2nd August at Dallinghoo and it is hoped this service can be held outside and will be followed by a suitably socially distancing 'bring your own' picnic.
If you would like to sign his farewell card from this parish, please pop in to the church porch before this Sunday's service, where you will find the card.   Please take your own pen!

A Credit to Our Community

posted 6 Jul 2020, 06:11 by Earl Soham Web Admin

I have just received the following message:

"If you are able to identify the young man on a bicycle who checked if I needed help in any way at about 3.00 am on Sunday 5th June as I cycled through the village, please pass on my thanks on to him.

He is an absolute credit to your community. He was pleasant, showed tremendous concern and offered all kinds of help.

I often cycle 50 to 70 miles in the small hours and his offer of assistance gives me much hope for the future when we have young people like him.

As it happened I was fine and needed no assistance, but the offer was much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Robert Walker

If you know who this considerate young man is please pass on Mr Walker's thanks.

Heartfelt Thanks

"I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your moving show of support on the day of my husband's funeral (Michael Hicks - Hillside).  Your kindness moved us deeply on such a difficult day.  Losing a loved one at any time is painful, but, the added complications of the lockdown restrictions meant that we were not able to see Michael for over three weeks prior to his passing  - which was heartbreaking.  While I do not know all of you personally, your demonstration of solidarity and compassion will stay with me forever.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Sheila Hicks and Nicola Beaumont."
