posted 23 Apr 2018, 02:29 by Chris Hoare

Police are naming the motorist who died following a road traffic collision on the A12 at Copdock on Friday 20 April.

Officers were called at 12.40pm to reports of a six-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway prior to the Copdock Mill interchange. Four cars including a red Mazda 6, a black Vauxhall Zafira, a black Toyota Hilux and a blue BMW 320 were involved in the incident as well as two Volvo HGV lorries.

The driver of the Mazda, Mandy Snowling aged 43 from Ipswich, sadly died at the scene.

A man and woman who had been travelling in the Vauxhall Zafira sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment but were later discharged.

The road was closed until around midnight to allow an investigation into the circumstances of the collision to take place.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or to anyone who may have captured the incident on their dash cam as they were travelling either north or southbound, to call the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101 quoting CAD 155 of 20 April.
